That 'me and my camera time' came sooner than I thought!

It was my sister's choir concert down in Manchester and me and my dad we’re driving over not only to show our support but to break out the old camera and get some pictures and footage to update their website :)Which meant I could zoom around with my dad’s Nikon feeling da bomb!

(I slightly regret typing that but I’m doing this thing where I write whatever comes into my head... I may later regret this decision but at the moment I’m really getting a lot done this way... any who)
I hadn’t used this camera in a while so I took some time getting used to the settings and once I’d taken a few dad-directed shots I was free to do what I wanted with the camera :D

So switching to art-mode I focused on searching for light against shadows from different angles. It was a lot cooler than it sounds (honestly!) You see... when you look through the lens of a camera and you get a musician’s head just eclipsing the light or a silhouetted soloist singing into darkness and that ever so slight smile. Those are the moments I’m trying to capture. Not to the liking of my dad, who likes the traditional portrait/ landscape photos – I just see no depth to those anymore. Studying art has really given me a different view on little things like that; I mean there’s so much more you can get from a photo.

[ I really like the colours in this last photo]

I love using this old camera, but when I say old I mean the complete opposite! You see my dad’s really into photography, it’s always been a hobby of his so he’s invested wisely in his cameras and the latest in his collection is this very new Nikon, and the features on this thing are amazing. But I'm still quite happy with my little Fuji at home, it used to be my dad’s too but I’ve been ‘borrowing’ it for a while now so I’ve decided to claim it as my own :)

I shall get some photos up from that up soon-ish...

Blog, blog, blog...

I'm still getting to grips with blogging...

I'm good when it comes to following blogs, its easy. You get an email update about new posts, you check them out and comment. Simples. But managing your own is waaay more difficult. But I'm not complaining - not really ;)
I think I just need to get into it, but first things first - I need a profile picture and deciding on one took me forever!! So I decided to have a little session with my camera when I was stuck inside one snowy day.

I soon lost track of how many pictures I'd actually taken, not to be vain but in more of a getting-carried-away-in-the-moment way. It was fun, and turned out to be a good way to pass the time (despite strange looks from various passing family members)
I think I'll make a note in future to have more times like these.

Just me and my camera.

I am now the proud owner of a blog.

And it took me quite some time to get around to setting this up too...

I didn’t realise how much work could go into making a blog, as I came across blog after blog and not one was the same. This is one of the reasons that it took me so long to get my own one going. I mean – a blog can really say a lot about you.
I thought it would be a great place to house my work, ideas and sources of inspiration I’ve found to share with others. I also hope this will really help me get my work organised as I set out my future plans. (In a clearer format than sketchbooks and papers sprawled across my floor)
I cannot wait to get some work on here – but right now I’m shattered! I got back from work at 7 this morning and haven’t really slept yet, but I’ll tell you more on that in a later post.
Right now my beds a-calling!
