The 'Red' House

On the thursday I got chance to return to 'The House' I discovered a few weeks ago... but this time I brought my friend steph along as a model to help add that extra something to my second shoot.

I also thought it would be a good idea to ask permission from the neighbouring house this time round - since I'd be filming as well as taking photos. Turns out that the neighbouring house DO own 'The House', which means a return trip is definately on the cards in order to answer a fair few questions - now with out further ado here are a selection of my best photographs - Enjoy!

Frankenstine's Wedding - live in leeds

Yesterday I attended Frankenstein's wedding...

Now I know not man of you can say that! haha ;)

You see earlier in the week I had attended a dance workshop in Leeds with my friend Michaela - my dancing partner in crime - and we learned the wedding dance which we would perform as his wedding guests! So we got to dress up formally, well as formally as we could knowing we'd have to wear loads of layers because it was an outdoor event set around the beautiful Kirkstall abbey.

This kinda explains my lack of posts the past cpuple of weeks - but I've been busy as I'll soon show you.

Focus on imaging

Today my dad, little brother and I took a trip down to Birmingham to check out the 'Focus on imaging' showcase.

All the well known brands were here and my dad was in his element :) I enjoyed a presentation given by Andrea Barrett about her work as a wedding photographer. She was really enthusiastic about her work and gave some great tips about raising your profile and keeping current in the industry.

It was nice to see a fresh approach to wedding photographs in the form of a hardback book. The above image was from a lovely wedding hardback by Asterisk Photography - I loved the layout and the modern style of photographs within. It was good to see the broad range of work on display not to mention the software and equipment available and...

You could even have a massaaaaaaaaage!!

All in all I had a really good time and came away with a lot of goodies including an issue of Black + White photography I can't wait to read when I get home!!

The House.

So I've not quite got into blogging earlier (yet) and I'm in the process of finding a new house style... But what I have done is make a start of my final unit of work, using our exam theme 'exploration and discovery' - now I just need to find a somewhere to take my photographs...

*     *     *
I've found the perfect location for my first set of photographs! I spotted it yesterday on a bus as I reached the top of the hill. There I caught sight of a lovely tiny house tucked away beside the road. If I'd zoomed out a little you'd have seen a newer (lived in) house a stones throw away to the left. Which made me drawn to this house even more - it was so perculiar and I knew it would be a great place to explore. (Now when I say lovely it wasn't this picturesque minature house, quite the opposite really, as you can see below.)

What made it lovely was the aged feel it had not to mention the mystery surrounding it. I wonder if something had happened there in the past, to explain why no one dared touch it since? These are all questions I could ask the neighbouring house when I return. Which I'm sure I will!

I'll keep you posted

I need to blog more...

As it's the start of the month I like to make a fresh start on certain things in my life, like focusing on doing work at reasonable hours, rather than at times rolling on into the early hours of the morning -_-

From a blogging perspective I feel that I need to jazz things up abit and become a more regular blogger. Not just blogging for the sake of blogging either but actually documenting the inspirational things I come across each day and keeping you up to date with the creative goings on in my life.

* * *
So as of today I'm going to put more work into this blog and start by finding a house style I'm happy with -  the current tree theme wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it has been a good temporary template none the less! I'm also going to try blog at a more resonable time too, looking over old posts I've been blogging as late as midnight! So it's decided. As of today I'm going to find my house style and post more regularly at reasonable hours...

*Fingers crossed!*
